Elizabeth Peratrovich Day, February 16th

February 16, 2025 @ 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM AKST

Elizabeth Peratrovich Day has been celebrated in Alaska since 1988, commemorating the day the Anti-Discrimination Act passed and the civil right activist who fought for it, Elizabeth Peratrovich.

Peratrovich (1911-1958) led the fight against Alaska Natives’ discrimination during the early 1940s. On February 16, 1945, the Anti-Discrimination Act passed, and Alaska became the first state and territory in the US to establish an anti-discrimination law.
