Learn about the Edgeworth Family and its most prominent member Maria Edgeworth – a contemporary and friend of Jane Austen. Listen to wonderful stories about Edgeworthstown’s past and its connection with historical figures such as Oliver Goldsmith, Sir Walter Scott, and Oscar Wilde. The Centre contains many valuable artifacts dating back to the 18th century. It also houses a recreation of a 19th-century school room and explains the establishment of the Irish National School System.
