Barbara Jordan: A Legislative Pioneer

The Barbara Jordan Archives at Texas Southern University in Houston preserve the legacy of Barbara Jordan—the first African American senator elected after Reconstruction, the first African American woman to serve in the House of Representatives, and the first African American woman to be buried in the Texas State Cemetery.
