Description
The Center for Colorado Women’s History is focusing on highlighting and documenting the stories of the women of Colorado. It aims to ensure Denver’s women’s history will be included and connecting it to the community by research, fellowship programs, lectures, tours, exhibitions, and special events. It is the only physical center in Colorado dedicated to presenting women’s stories since it was opened on March 21st, 2018.
The center is located in the Byers-Evans House, a historic museum built in the late 19th century and restored to the 1912–1924 period. Most of the furniture and memorabilia are original. By following the guided tour, the visitor is getting to know all about the house and the life in Denver over the years, including the stories about the women who lived there, such as Anne Evans, the art patron and businesswomen, Margaret Gray Evans, the former First Lady of Colorado, and many more.
