Historical LGBTQ Tour

Walk the streets of the Castro district to learn in-depth how San Francisco became the “LGBTQ Mecca.” and a center for LGBT rights and activism.

Your experienced local guide will lead you between the landmarks related to the history of the LGBTQ community in the neighborhood – Pink Triangle Memorial Park, the Rainbow Honor Walk Project, the AIDS Quilt Names Project, and the Human Rights Campaign.

You will discover the connection between the Gold Rush to the first gay community of the city and the link between Harvey Milk and the Rainbow Flag, and hear the stories of famous LGTBQ people and their contributions to social and political events, including WW2, the Civil Rights Movement, and The Summer of Love.
