During the Cold War and the Kennedy era, the men made the policy, and their wives made history.
While strolling through Georgetown, you will hear the HerStories of the women who were part of the most exclusive club of power-players in Cold War DC and many more who learned how to make their mark in a man’s world. Stories of an ill-fated artist, an Ambassador’s wife, a Baroness, and the most powerful woman in journalism.
Tour begins at Thomas Sweet Shop, 3214 P Street NW DC, and ends at Oak Hill Cemetery, 3001 R Street NW. There is a halfway stop at the famous Martin’s Tavern, where JFK proposed to Jackie, for a bathroom break and refreshments.
Your tour guide is Katie Kirkpatrick, who always loved history, storytelling, and costuming. When she discovered her passion for sharing the unknown stories about her beloved city, she founded Off the Mall Tours.
