Starting with the original Native American inhabitants and continuing with the women who founded the first village, the women who fought in the Revolutionary war, the suffrage movement in the city, enslaved women, artists, writers, religious leaders, 9/11 heroes and more powerful and significant women who had pivotal in the development of the city.
